Employees Expose FOX NEWS' Distortions

Video Description:
FOX News: "Fair and balanced" because they say so!
A brief but shocking compilation from the documentary: "OUTFOXED: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism" http://www.outfoxed.org/ As Rupert Murdoch's 'war on journalism' hits new lows, droves of disgruntled employees are confessing their many misdeeds, brought upon by the Soviet-Union-esque environm
ent they faced at FOX News. Watch how FOX executives dictate their bias by forcing reporters to follow memos that predetermine what they can say and how they should say it. Rupert Murdoch has decided that the best approach to journalism is to parade opinions dressed-up as News. The reason is simple
: No one can disprove an opinion, and therefore, credibility is easier to maintain. Should they ever be caught lying, the legal process affords them protection under the First Amendment. We also have Congress to thank for the bright idea of passing a rider Bill (hidden) to deregulate the News Media.
That's right; Corporate News entities can tell lies and distort the news as they please, and it's all perfectly legal. To the best of my knowledge, no country can have or maintain democracy without an honest Press or, at least, one that can be held accountable. But where is ours? Not convinced?
"Florida Appeals Court ruled that there is absolutely nothing illegal in a major media organization lying, concealing or distorting information": http://www.netfeed.com/~jhill/RupertMurdoch.htm This video clip is a brief compilation from Robert Greenwald's documentary: "OUTFOXED: Rupert Murdoch's
War on Journalism": http://www.outfoxed.org/

Proponent of a certain point of view. lol Fox is just a propaganda machine, catering to ignorance and dealing in fear. The days of Fox news are well and truly over. It's time once again for sanity, decency and truth.

The problems is ... ( 1 week ago by JohnPurvis)
The problems is that 40% of Americans get their "news" from Fox News. Fox doesn't even come close to approaching honesty or journalistic integrity. They out right lie and manipulate. I can't think of another major media outlet (not owned by News Corp, Fox's parent co.) that manipulates the way Fox does. Americans are told lies and they believe it. Those same citizens vote for on issues not knowing the real facts, regardless of political ideology.

I'm not a repub or a dem, but being that every single news network leans to the left, I have no problem with fox leaning to the right. Also it's funny to think that every news station was biased toward Obama and Fox news is the only station to give equal negative and positive feedback between obama and McCain. Being that fox is best in the ratings, they're doing something right, whatever it may be. Ive also seen candidates on other news networks who often avoid hard questions and get away withit
That's exactly the ... ( 1 week ago by mostlyawake)
That's exactly the argument that Murdoch wanted the public to have. Notice, you don't mention the truth, which is what journalism is supposed to be about, you mentioned the sides of an argument -- meaning there is no truth. That's how we got lied into a war. When there is no truth (only sides of the truth), then people don't understand reality (they only back their side). And Fox news is top in the ratings for the same reason Jerry Springer is. They got ratings off car chases, gossip and fear.
Keep in Mind Fox ... ( 6 days ago by Parrotisla)
Keep in Mind Fox wasn't the only news station that lied about the wars, they ALL did. ALL of the news networks duped us to go into war. I agree journalism is suppose to be about truth, but I don't see how people can complain about fox news when all of the other stations do the same sh*t. Car chases, gossip and fear. Car chases are shown on all news networks because they are big ratings. Fear, yes, big ratings bu again all networks use that. Do you know what's in your drinking water? Stay tuned.
"Keep in Mind Fox ... ( 6 days ago by mostlyawake)
"Keep in Mind Fox wasn't the only news station that lied about the wars, they ALL did." No. There is a large difference between reporters being lied to by the Bush admin and those actively pushing those lies. O'Reilly told anyone who didn't believe in WMDs to "shut-up" for almost a year on his radio show. Other stations do the "same type of news as Fox" as a result of Fox's ratings. As for the Birch Society, Alex Jones, nonsense about drinking water, I'll take a pass on that debate.
Wait who said ... ( 6 days ago by Parrotisla)
Wait who said O'Reilly is news? He's simply a talk show where he gives his opinion. Not all of the shows on Fox are news. Just like the other channels, not all of their shows are news. I don't watch o"Reilly though I did during 01-02. He wanted to bomb the hell out of those countries. I think when we talk about these news networks it's important to distinguish between the shows such as O'Reilly, Hannity and Colms and the regular news during the day. Those are opinions, the coverage not so much.
"I think when we ... ( 6 days ago by mostlyawake)
"I think when we talk about these news networks it's important to distinguish between the shows such as O'Reilly, Hannity" No. That's exactly the point. Fox "news" is not news. It is all opinion. You think "terrorist fist jab" is "news"? You think joking about killing Obama is "news"? Fox "news" is all opinion. That's the point of "Outfoxed - Ruppert Murdoch's War on Journalism" -- which is the movie which this clip was taken from.
Here's one example ... ( 6 days ago by mostlyawake)
Here's one example not shown, by Outfoxed or Brave New Films, where I can show you the bias. Bush spoke from Israel and took a shot at Obama (saying that "some people" believe we should talk to terrorists). The Bush people told reporters on background that Bush was taking a shot at Obama. All the news outlets reported that. Fox news did not, and instead (on their "news show") they had on a therapist to describe how Obama had a mental disorder for believing that Bush was speaking about him.

FOX should not be ... ( 1 day ago by 888eman)
FOX should not be considered a news station. They don't do actual reporting. News reports are supposed to be an unbiased, accurate representation of world events that are presented for the viewer to form his/her own opinions on the subject. This station tells its viewers, through distortion and misrepresentation of the facts, what their opinion should be. This is not journalism, not even close.
It's not a news ... ( 1 day ago by drillahmon)
It's not a news show its a propaganda machine to promote the causes of big government and ultimately faschism. They're doing everythin they can to make Obama look like a terrorist, communist and any other name they can get to stick.

Don't be silly. FOX ... ( 12 hours ago by jrigeli)
Don't be silly. FOX has regular news programming with stories that are not biased just like the other networks. And then they have Talk Shows with commentators that give the conservative point of view. This is no different than MSNBC Olberman, Matthews or CNN Dobbs, Caferty, etc. All the cable news channels have talk shows that slant right or left.
So stop whining, just because there are people on the air that have a different opinion than your own.
You could find ... ( 10 hours ago by kabloozie)
You could find disgruntled employees from other news organizations - unfortunately, they probably wouldn't go on camera because it's less likely they could find work if they were to speak out against their employer - I mean, FOX is only one channel... I wish traditional news outlets wouldn't be such intellectual snobs, then FOX wouldn't have a leg to stand on. I think most people recognize that the traditional news outlets are slanted and biased also - FOX is a not-that-great alternative.

Tips to help you create better videos

1. Eye Candy.
Think about some of your favorite videos, ask yourself, what interesting shots and b-roll need to be captured to make your video entertaining to watch.

2. Good Lighting.
The main difference between amateur and professional videos is the quality of the lighting. Poor lighting creates graininess and poor quality videos too. (*Hint* In most studios, the lights and the cameras can be adjusted up and down to get the correct amount of light.) For your home studio make use of fluorescent light bulbs. These bulbs produce a nice soft light with no harsh shadows. You can buy fluorescent light kits or you can save a lot of money and make your own fluorescent light box. It is best to use a three point lighting system which is fairly standard in most studios.

3. Tripod.
Use a tripod for shake free shooting. Tripods come in all sizes and quality. Most camcorders used today are only small and weigh very little so there is no need to buy a tripod to suit a heavy professional video camera.

4. Microphone.
The built in microphone on your camcorder is not the best to use if you can avoid it. Buy a directional one that can be mounted on top of your camcorder. Otherwise mount the microphone on a boom or support just out of view of the camcorder but close to the subject. Another option is to use a microphone that clips onto your lapel and as used by newsreaders on television. These are very effective and can be purchased for less than $50. No need to buy a wireless unit, but you need enough cable to run from the camcorder remote microphone, up the inside of your shirt and to your lapel. Bear in mind that you will normally be seated within six feet of the camcorder so the microphone should have plenty of cable.

5. Avoid Zooming and Panning.
Avoid zooming in and out and panning from side to side as much as possible. It is recommended that you set the zoom prior to recording.

6. Pre-Roll and Post-Roll.
Allow a few extra seconds after starting and before stopping the camcorder and the actual start and finish of the action you want to record. This allows for better editing once the shooting is over. Not allowing for the pre-roll and post-roll can make editing difficult. If you are filming yourself then start the camcorder recording with the remote control, wait six seconds before you start talking and at the end let the camcorder run an extra six seconds before stopping. This will give you plenty of time when editing.

7. Remember It is A Small Screen.
When shooting videos to add to your web site, normally the player will be 320 x 240 so avoid wide scenes, keep it close to see the detail. If you are filming yourself talking, you should be within six feet of the camera and preferably from the waist up. Keep the content simple and uncomplicated, do not have much happening in the video and keep it quiet-on-the-set.

8. Think Like a Photographer.
When shooting a video, do it like a photographer taking individual shots. Plan your video shoot, record for a short while from one position then stop recording, reposition the camera or yourself then shoot again. This will reduce excessive camera movement in your video. Using these tips will ensure that you can shoot and produce quality website videos of a better quality than most people. Remember, practice makes perfect and soon you will be getting great results on the first take.

9. Look at the Details.
Sometimes, you are so focused on your subject that you do not notice the surrounding elements of the scene. Only later, when you are reviewing the footage do you notice an unsightly trash can in the background or a tree sticking out of your subjects head. I like to scan the video screen carefully before shooting to make sure there is nothing in the shot that I may have overlooked. You may be surprised what you find!

Use our search feature, at the top of the page, to find videos about your favorite topics. There are tons of videos, for example, type in "Bikini contest", "Body building", "Guitar lesson", or "How to (anything)". Search for "Commercial", you will see cool ads and funny commercials. Notice the video techniques used to capture each video, you may very well find many helpful tips and tricks to use as well as many techniques to avoid when making your own videos... have fun.
