people that go to Jimi videos to criticize probably barely make it through 1/4 of the song, or if they do they are being interrupted all the way through it, not having the time to close their eyes and LISTEN, they criticize because they believe it makes some sort of DIFFERENCE in someones life. Take it from all the great guitarists that have ever come into contact with him. The word best doesn't apply to Jimi. He's on a much higher plane.

he plays with his teeth because he can rofl. Hes not doing it to show how great he is think of it as his own original style of guitar playing.

becuz if you were alive in that time period you would see NO ONE did what he did before that,i know you probably heard this before but i dont think you understand (it took me awhile too) - NO ONE DID THIS BEFORE HIM - like feedback and such up front guitar sound and everything - steve vai, satriani, batio and others are good but in the end hendrix outdoes all of them becuase he has this "thing" i cant describe - none of the others do it, they wouldnt be there without hendrix's work in the 60's

dude , thats ... ( 3 weeks ago by siggerbigger)
dude , thats bullshit. Ok he was the firs to do his thing, that doesn't mean he was the better at it than all other people. There are a lot of people today who is waaaay better than Jimi was and the fact that Jimi did the same thing before them doesn't matter at all. It's like saying the first person to make a worldrecord in something did it better than the person who has the worldrecord in the same thing today. Its pretty much bullcrap cause u want to act like u know music better than others.
Gaaah, fucking ... ( 3 weeks ago by siggerbigger)
Gaaah, fucking craptalk. Okay music might be about expressing your feelings BUT speed and technique is a sign of practice, practice makes you better therefor, a fast and technical guitarist is a skilled guitarist. As long as it sounds good, it's good music. Then you fucking drugusers can talk about all the feeling jimi played with but there still is way more SKILLED guitarists out there today.
Yes, but speed and ... ( 3 weeks ago by booze188)
Yes, but speed and technique can be learned and practiced by ANYONE. Only a musical genius has the ability to do something powerful, emotional, and unique with those extremely basic skills.
Come on ... ( 3 weeks ago by BenFrancDes)
Come on siggerbigger, its all about showmanship. Jimi had the complete package. He wrote great songs, he was the killerest guitar player ever, and he was visually an immense icon. Nobody can match that. Ever. Name a guitar player who comes close, i dare ya...
Ita all about ... ( 3 weeks ago by BenFrancDes)
Ita all about showmanship. Jimi had style. Thats the difference between a pioneer and a bunch of soundalikes...
everyone is crazy. ... ( 3 weeks ago by hardyfoster)
everyone is crazy. you don't have to be able to play an instrument with super magical abilitites to be a good musician. tying all the parts of the different instruments together makes good music. ac/dc does nothing complicated. look at them. now listen to those bands that try to sound all complicated and have a bunch of instruments doing all kinds of stuff. now.... who sounds better ?
yeah, ofc a musical ... ( 3 weeks ago by siggerbigger)
yeah, ofc a musical genius can do those great songs, but thats also different from person to person, i myself dont like hendrix for example. BUT they say he was the most skilled GUITARIST which is not a fact. Today's greatest guitarists are way faster and way more techniqual therefor more skilled, and could probably play hendrix songs just as good as he did. But u do have a point when you say that not everyone can create a great song, but that doesn't mean that hendrix was the best.
i know im getting ... ( 3 weeks ago by siggerbigger)
i know im getting flamed for this but i'd say that zakk wylde and dimebag are/was more skilled. Note that i say more skilled and not better, cause if i said that they were better it would just be my opinion. But i think they are more skilled as guitarist, then u can say whatever you want about showmanship, feeling, soul and being a musical genius. They are still more skilled GUITARISTS.
They maybe are more ... ( 3 weeks ago by grga888)
They maybe are more skilled, but that is all what they have. Hendrix was the complete package and he had everything else and on a very high level. He set up the rules for electric guitar that are #1 and everybody owes to him. He is after all the best electric guitar player of all times. Maybe not the best tehnically skilled (which isn't important at all, although he was pretty skilled), but he is by far #1 of all time, a fact!
ok that he was ... ( 3 weeks ago by siggerbigger)
ok that he was first, but as i said earlier, that doesn't make him the best. Of course he has been a great source of inspiration for probably all good guitarists out there but doing a thing first does not make u the best at that particular thing.and also being best in this case is obviously about creating the best music and thats a matter of opinion not a fact.
What you're not ... ( 2 weeks ago by booze188)
What you're not understanding here, is that it is HIS thing. You see the up front showmanship and in your face guitar playing that Jimi has as a front man? That's HIS own personal style. Nobody elses, he was the first person to ever play like that. Anyone that's out now and does it "better" still doesn't do it better because it's not their personal style. A better analogy than the one you used would be setting the new world record in playing just like someone else which, doesn't make you better.
The difference is ... ( 1 week ago by 1MustHave1UserName)
The difference is Zakk and Dime had Hendrix to pull from, putting them light years ahead without having to invent it. They got to hear stuff already perfected and build from there. If someone didn't invent the wheel, you'd be walking today as you wouldn't know to invent it. But I'll bet now that there IS a wheel you can come up with a better use for it.

you need to ... ( 5 days ago by originalname33)
you need to understand Hendrix was doing things that haven't been done since. he was literally doing stuff like playing rhythm and lead constantly at the same time, plus bass with his thumb. this gives you a lot of chordal freedom and just better range for his creativity on guitar which had yet to be matched. who has better phrasing on the guitar? go expand you knowledge and listen to some live concerts from 69-70.
the thing is, ... ( 23 hours ago by siggerbigger)
the thing is, todays good guitarists can do it alot better than he did. everyone says that jimi was the first doing it and that makes him better, that's like saying that the slaves in america was the best blues and rock musicians ever since they created the blues which developed into rock and other subgenres. and also im talking about a more SKILLED GUITARIST not a better musician. a good musician is a matter of opinion, a skilled guitarist is a matter of fact.

Tips to help you create better videos

1. Eye Candy.
Think about some of your favorite videos, ask yourself, what interesting shots and b-roll need to be captured to make your video entertaining to watch.

2. Good Lighting.
The main difference between amateur and professional videos is the quality of the lighting. Poor lighting creates graininess and poor quality videos too. (*Hint* In most studios, the lights and the cameras can be adjusted up and down to get the correct amount of light.) For your home studio make use of fluorescent light bulbs. These bulbs produce a nice soft light with no harsh shadows. You can buy fluorescent light kits or you can save a lot of money and make your own fluorescent light box. It is best to use a three point lighting system which is fairly standard in most studios.

3. Tripod.
Use a tripod for shake free shooting. Tripods come in all sizes and quality. Most camcorders used today are only small and weigh very little so there is no need to buy a tripod to suit a heavy professional video camera.

4. Microphone.
The built in microphone on your camcorder is not the best to use if you can avoid it. Buy a directional one that can be mounted on top of your camcorder. Otherwise mount the microphone on a boom or support just out of view of the camcorder but close to the subject. Another option is to use a microphone that clips onto your lapel and as used by newsreaders on television. These are very effective and can be purchased for less than $50. No need to buy a wireless unit, but you need enough cable to run from the camcorder remote microphone, up the inside of your shirt and to your lapel. Bear in mind that you will normally be seated within six feet of the camcorder so the microphone should have plenty of cable.

5. Avoid Zooming and Panning.
Avoid zooming in and out and panning from side to side as much as possible. It is recommended that you set the zoom prior to recording.

6. Pre-Roll and Post-Roll.
Allow a few extra seconds after starting and before stopping the camcorder and the actual start and finish of the action you want to record. This allows for better editing once the shooting is over. Not allowing for the pre-roll and post-roll can make editing difficult. If you are filming yourself then start the camcorder recording with the remote control, wait six seconds before you start talking and at the end let the camcorder run an extra six seconds before stopping. This will give you plenty of time when editing.

7. Remember It is A Small Screen.
When shooting videos to add to your web site, normally the player will be 320 x 240 so avoid wide scenes, keep it close to see the detail. If you are filming yourself talking, you should be within six feet of the camera and preferably from the waist up. Keep the content simple and uncomplicated, do not have much happening in the video and keep it quiet-on-the-set.

8. Think Like a Photographer.
When shooting a video, do it like a photographer taking individual shots. Plan your video shoot, record for a short while from one position then stop recording, reposition the camera or yourself then shoot again. This will reduce excessive camera movement in your video. Using these tips will ensure that you can shoot and produce quality website videos of a better quality than most people. Remember, practice makes perfect and soon you will be getting great results on the first take.

9. Look at the Details.
Sometimes, you are so focused on your subject that you do not notice the surrounding elements of the scene. Only later, when you are reviewing the footage do you notice an unsightly trash can in the background or a tree sticking out of your subjects head. I like to scan the video screen carefully before shooting to make sure there is nothing in the shot that I may have overlooked. You may be surprised what you find!

Use our search feature, at the top of the page, to find videos about your favorite topics. There are tons of videos, for example, type in "Bikini contest", "Body building", "Guitar lesson", or "How to (anything)". Search for "Commercial", you will see cool ads and funny commercials. Notice the video techniques used to capture each video, you may very well find many helpful tips and tricks to use as well as many techniques to avoid when making your own videos... have fun.
